[7] - Belated Flood Reaction [Video, Public]

[Crane is in his room, and visible next to him is a stack of books, with titles pointedly turned away from the camera.]

Well, I’m not really sure what to say.

[Beat, in which Crane looks pensive. But only for a second.]

No, actually, I know exactly what I want to say.

To the “Riddler”, you are without a doubt the worst warden on the entire barge. It’s wonderful that you’re willing to convince someone who’s clearly flood affected to try and jump off the deck. Next you thing you know, you’ll probably just be killing inmates on your own steam. That’s more effective, isn’t it?

Adric, it’s just chess. You clearly have some kind of obsessive personality to make it into some huge issue. Move on.

Libby, no one on the barge cares about your relationship and apparently sexual dysfunction. That is not something that anyone needs to hear.

To the other denizens of the barge, especially all the new ones, welcome to your life. Prepare for floods of varying varieties that tell you exactly what you didn’t want to know about your fellow inmates and wardens. If you’ve got a problem with it, I’d suggest taking it to the Admiral, but we don’t exactly see a lot of him.

[Private to Jack Tyler]

Thanks. [Crane looks as if saying that is causing him physical pain.]

[Private to Ms. Rose]

I am sorry about not talking to you earlier. I’ve been… indisposed. Thank you though, for being one of the few people in the flood to keep a level head about you.

[Private to Max]

I’m just getting some things off my chest. That’s not going to be a problem, is it?

OCC: PHPHPH I haven’t done my final exam, and I know I say this every time I post, but I am actually slow timing. Really. I just wanted to make sure this was up well before port. Also, sorry for the long post. >___>

Do you mean on a smaller scale? As in, around here?

With all due respect, despite what everyone here says, we're not on a barge. We're in Arkham. They're dosing us with some chemical to ensure that we think this is a barge, probably to reduce attempts at escape.

Those were my thoughts, but one of the commenters made a valid point. It's pretty well regulated for a hallucination.

But really, what difference does it make? Arkham will burn just as prettily.

It's still a hallucination. They're all lying to us. Even the decent ones.

Still, my primary concern is whether I would be in it at the time of said burning.

We all have to make sacrifices.

How do you know it's a hallucination? You lived through the fear gas. Is this the same?

Private

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-17 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the same in effect, but it's the same in principle. Just, like you said, more stable. Given time and materials, I would probably be able to duplicate the effect.

And for the record? That's not an acceptable sacrifice.

They say we come back...

What would you need to test it?

Private

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-17 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
It's obviously not possible. I've seen people injured here, of course, but never die. They're exaggerating.

I'm making some enquiries at the moment. Suffice to say, I have the knowledge, but only half the materials and none of the equipment.

[identity profile] ahahaaahooo.livejournal.com 2010-06-17 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well all we need to do, is watch someone die.

Private

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps that's true, but I'd rather not spend the rest of my sentence in zero.

We're on a boat - excuse me, in an asylum - full of murderers and fiends I'm sure an opportunity will arise to observe if you don't want to engage.

Private

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that would be acceptable. Provided you make sure that you choose the right targets. There are some people here who aren't entirely of a bad sort.

Private

[identity profile] ahahaaahooo.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, acceptable is it? Hmmm.

And who would you recommend I avoid?

Private - Crane knows how this game will end up!

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wouldn't want to confine your creativity. I'll just tell you if it happens, rather then letting it dampen your plans.

Private - whatever do you mean? *innocent face*

[identity profile] ahahaaahooo.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Wohahaha! Oh-h, I don't have any plans. I just... set the ball rolling. Pull the jar from the bottom of the stack.

Private - Oh, you. XDDD

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. Excellent. I'll keep that in mind.
