doctor_j_crane: Crane looking neutral. (I See)

[5] - Flood Affected, lol.

A flood? What on earth is that supposed to be? There isn't water anywhere, even if this place was so poorly architecturally designed that it didn't have a sufficient drainage system.

If this is some kind code for a change of medication, I'm going to find the Admiral and show him exactly what it's like to be... [crossed out words are illegible]

...Dr. Facilier, I've also been considering your strange shadow creature. I want to know how it works. You must have been quite inventive to create a being of such lifelike proportions. It's genius, in its way.

[Private to Max]

A Doctor was looking for volunteers in the infirmary. Since menial labor is apparently a meaningful occupation, can I have permission to volunteer? Considering my past medical experience, I think I'd be more then competant in an emergency.

Oh man, this is just going to turn into a bff-fest, isn't it? :D

You must have been exceedingly important where you came from. It isn't surprising, really, for a man of your articulation and skills.

I feel as if I was unfair in misjudging you as well. It's the barge, you have to understand. Mostly everyone here is either insane or undesirable company. To be fair, I did overreact to what was more or less you fishing for information - which, of course, is hardly something to be offended by.

Oh, it's quite a wonderful thing, the psychology. You can study people and also effect them, if you take my meaning. I'd also be interested in learning about your, uh, Shadow skills. There must be some merit in the system if you think it's worthwhile.

With subsequent 'what the hell did I do this weekend?' to follow XD

Heh, I suppose you could say that. I was real well-known - household name, even.

I think I do take your meaning - I have to say, I'm even more interested. There's few things more useful than really getting inside another man's head.

It'll be great. :D

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't surprise me, not at all. You seem like the type that people would admire.

It allows you to achieve more or less anything in life. Everyone has a weak point, some place where you can take advantage of them. Finding it is the tricky part, and there are people who know well enough to keep it utterly hidden.

They'll commit brotherly seppuku together afterwards! :D

[identity profile] amagicalmystery.livejournal.com 2010-05-31 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Admire." Suppose you could call it that.

Oh, you'd be surprised what I could ferret out already. But it don't hurt at all to know a few extra tricks.

[Private]
Speaking of which - just between us, you never DID tell me what you're in for. I've got a feeling we're pretty similar on that, though.

Private - Or just plan each others bloody deaths, so no one will know :D

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-05-31 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you have.

I'm in here because some people take things so personally. I may have been involved in creating a chemical that when activated caused individuals to have horrific hallucinations that resulted in their deaths. But it was for the greater good, really. The scientific information that I gathered from my preliminary tests alone was astonishing. And it's not like they didn't stop it from reaching most of the city.

I'm presuming that you've been locked up here for something equally ridiculous?

Private - Facilier is so waiting for that first death toll, it might as well be with his new bff :D

[identity profile] amagicalmystery.livejournal.com 2010-05-31 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Tsk, folks get so reactionary. Y'all were doin' it in the name of progress and everything, and you don't even get extra points.

I ain't so noble as all that - I did a lot of conning, my fair share of hexing, I turned a prince into a frog once. And tried to use him to take over the city. Ain't like a man of my background had more scrupulous prospects, so who's the victim here, I ask you?

Private - Crane might ask Booth to help out, so it might actually have a chance of succeeding!

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-01 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I can see your point. People are so intent on dragging others down that they pick on any little thing. Besides, the leadership in cities is usually so incompetent. I'm sure you would have done a much better job then whoever was running it at the time.

Private - He is way too happy about having two archenemies.

[identity profile] amagicalmystery.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he was some two-ton windbag in a suit. Old money - plantation money, if you take my meaning. Daughter who screeched like a cat. Couldn't stand the man.

Wasn't so concerned about politics as I was making sure they all knew exactly who I was.

Private - Between this and post flood, I have so much mood whiplash! :D

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well that is quite unpleasant business. I'm sure he had whatever happened coming.

Well, there's nothing like a little bit of infamy. Where I come from, you'd be surprised how many people are trying for a slice of the pie with all kinds of gimmicks.

Private - oh god yes XD

[identity profile] amagicalmystery.livejournal.com 2010-06-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Infamy's a fine thing, highly underrated. Back home, folks know the Shadow Man long before they know my name.

Oh really? With no magic, they all mad scientists like yourself?

Private

I know the feeling. The type of fear whipped through a place by a rumour running fast can be delicious.

Well, not always scientists. But only ordinary men, the lot of them. As much as they would like to think otherwise.

Sort of a drug, really, of the best kind.

Oh, but that's the first step to getting there, ain't it? Believing in the dream of it?
