[Crane’s holding the device up, and you can see from the wall behind him that he’s in zero.]

I don’t see why you’re all taking this so personally. It isn’t that different from one of your little floods, is it? And it’s not like the lot of you didn’t have it coming.

[Crane shrugs, as if to say ‘my bad’.]

Have fun with the cleanup. I’m sure there will be lots of exciting things to find around the barge.

[Crane gives the camera a bit of a grin, then moves the device away to turn it off. You can still see for a second that he doesn't look as cheerful as his tone would indicate.]

[Whoops, Crane’s in zero (brought down by Sam Tyler) and still a little bit high from the fear gas. He’s decided that he doesn’t really care if other people know he caused it because he reckons the information will get around anyway. He also doesn’t know that Ms Rose is alive yet either. I’m also open for a spam with any wardens coming down to visit him or other cool cats in zero. And this post is dated to around Sunday evening.]

[Judas furrows his eyebrows and asks quietly:] Did... Did you k-kill someone too?

You killed someone? [Crane struggled to keep the excitement out of his voice. The fear gas, if it had been that, had done its work well.]

[Judas frowns and presses his forehead against the bars.]

I... I did.

Why? [Crane was curious, and guilt was sometimes almost as amusing as fear.]

[Judas hesitated before he continued:] I th-thought he was Pilate.

Now, one would think that murder wasn't the right thing to do under any circumstances. [This was turning out to be most amusing for Crane.] What would Jesus have thought?

[At that Judas's tears start up again and there's the quiet beginnings of sobbing, heavy breathing echoing in the cell around him.]

I d-did... I did it to save Him.

Is that what he would have wanted? [Crane was leaning against the bars, trying to get a better look at Judas's reaction.] For you to sin like that?

[Judas gripped the bars and sank closer to the ground when Crane spoke, breaking down further.]

N-No. He... he was non-violent.

[Crane watched Judas sink down. He had a strange, but enjoyable feeling in his chest.] Non-violent? Then how could you kill, knowing that?

[A pause, then in a lower voice.]

I imagine he would never want to look at your face again.

[Judas slid completely to his knees and a sob escaped him at Crane's words.]

He...

[A part of him told himself to not believe something that some stranger was telling him, but the Apostle was so steeped in his guilt that Crane's words were more than believable.]

[Crane stepped back from the bars, and spoke again with a completely different tone.] Do you what the saddest thing is?

[He didn't wait for an answer.]

Instead of getting yourself together, dealing with your issues and facing your fears, you'd rather just sit there and well in your own self pity. It wasn't your fault that you killed those people. It was the barges fault.

[Crane took a breath, and switched back to a more gentle tone of voice.]

Are you really going to let them do this to you? Undo everything that Jesus gave you?

[Judas didn't know how to react to that. Not even in the slightest. So instead of thinking through a rational response, he simply curled up on his cot and tried to not think of what this murder implied about him, about Jesus, about his time here, about Sexby and Angelica. He wanted to forget about all of it, to never remember what it felt like to end a man's life with his own two hands.]

[Crane sighed. It had always been harder to mind warp people when they weren't under the influence of drugs. He had always been better at breaking rather then warping anyway.]

Don't be too miserable. Your warden will come and get you. Maybe.

[Now that got Judas's attention and he quickly glanced to his door, shaking his head furiously.]

Sexby wouldn't leave me. He wouldn't. He wouldn't. He wouldn't.

Then why isn't he here, Judas? I should check. [Crane nodded, before spending a long minute or so looking at his journal.] Oh, my. He seems to have posted a message about you, but so you can't see it. He wants another inmate.

[That had Judas on his feet and looking through the bars of the door again for a few moments before he goes back to his own journal. He can't see anything, but he just realizes that durrr that's what Crane said.]

No.

[He looked up through the bars again.]

No, he wouldn't. Angelica said he was ill.

[Ill? Crane mentally added that to his count of how many people he'd hit.] She was trying to be polite, Judas. No one likes to say that kind of thing.

[Judas furrowed his eyebrows at Crane from behind the bars and shook his head fiercely, firmly in denial of such a thing.]

No. No, he can't have.

I'm sorry, but it's true. Perhaps you should have done better. [Crane shrugged, and started to look at his journal again.] There haven't been any volunteers to be your warden so far. Maybe they'll leave you down here for good.

[Judas's breath caught in his throat and he began to shake the bars with his hands, a vain attempt to free himself.]

No, they wouldn't. The Admiral would re-assign me. I'll be out of here. By Wednesday. I'll have a new warden on Wednesday.

[But despite all his threatening to Sexby in the past six months, he never wanted a new warden. The older man knew just how to push him in the right way and seemed to genuinely care for the Apostle but Judas knew there was a rift between them since his transformation.]

[Crane wasn't particularly amused by the bar shaking. Before he'd thought to amuse himself with Judas, he had been getting close to that point himself.]

Why would the Admiral reassign you so soon after a murder? Surely he'll wait until the next sorting for good measure. It's a more appropriate punishment.

Why would I lie? [Crane put on his best sympathetic face.] What could I possibly gain from that? I'm simply trying to help.

[Judas looked across at Crane, looking a little defeated, if not heartbroken.]
