doctor_j_crane: Crane looking neutral. (Sigh forever)

[72] - [Voice]

[Crane sounds somewhat breathless.] Do we still have the capacity to bring people back from the dead? Or are we facing something more permanent? And are there any signs that bites from the faceless creatures cause ill effects?

[Pause.] And after people are finished considering that, I'm pinned down by these things on the second floor, if anyone is willing or able to help.

[Private - Eddie]

Are you still alive? Is your room locked? I like to imagine that you've got a secret cache of weapons, as unlikely as that is. But at the very least, I'm going to need that knife. If only to treat this bite.

[Private - Perry]

Considering how often we talk about alliances, this is a good opportunity to actually act on it.

One of them bit me; I need you to do something about it. [Perry wipes blood away from his face and nods to the open door. He gives Crane a little shove for emphasis. Staying in the corridor is stupid.] I'd do it myself but I can't reach.

[Crane doesn't appreciate the shove in the slightest, but he nods and steps back into the room, over the body again.]

I can try, but it's not going to be good or anywhere near proper medical treatment.

[Perry closes the door behind him and gives a half-hearted (and painful, considering the bite on his back) shrug. It's hurting him more than he's showing. He's playing through it.]

Whatever, man. I just need it bandaged up. [His tone got more sarcastic.] 'Cause hey, I can fight better without having open wounds, who knew?

Clearly a scientific discovery that will be appreciated for generations to come. The Dawsey formula.

[Crane looks around his room, with a sense of grimness. He's got Rose's needle and thread somewhere, as well as tape. But that's about it.] I don't have any medication either.

Forget medication. Just do what you can. [Perry wipes still more blood off his face. The cuts on his face are pretty superficial for the most part, with one or two exceptions, but there are quite a few. Plus, headwounds always bleed a lot.] I can deal with it properly later.

[While Crane's looking around the room,, Perry pulls the chair out from under Crane's deck and sits, leaning his elbows on his knees to keep the bite away from the back of the chair. He rubs his eyes tiredly. All told, this has been a pretty sucky day.]

[It's not hard to see the wound that Dawsey was referring to. The mass of blood and the clearly visible hole, for lack of a better term, in Dawsey's back was fairly self explanatory.]

I'm not even going to both trying to stitch that. There's too much missing. [Crane said bluntly. And with that, he started looking for the spool of tape and something to stop the bleeding.]

[Great. Why do all his injuries leave gross pits of scar tissue?] You're the doctor. You know more about this shit than I do. [He sighs, gritting his teeth as the movement tugs the blood-encrusted shirt away from the bite. Now that the adrenaline is wearing down and he's just... sitting, this shit is starting to hurt. What he wouldn't give for some Tylenol.]

[Crane had found a shirt that he wasn't overly attached to and the tape. He walked back over to Perry, looking at the ragged edges of the wound.]

Yes, well. I can do something for some of the cuts on your face. But if this all ends, you're going to need to go to the infirmary about this one. [And with that, Crane started ripping up the shirt into pieces that were more useful.]

[Perry eyes the shirt as Crane starts tearing it up. He suspects that Crane's about to do the exact same thing he did to the hole in his shoulder where the Triangle had been. If he does, it'll be a weird sort of... validation.]

I freaking hate the infirmary. [Grumble, grumble, grumble.]

[Crane doesn't even bother to try to clean the would. He can't see any foreign objects in it, which considering his lack of materials is about as positive as he can expect. Time to start packing strips of shirt in there.]

If you talk to anyone there, talk to Caesares. I'm relatively sure that he's from the dawn of time, but he seems trustworthy enough.

[Perry winces, clenching his hands into fists as the first strips of shirt go into the wound. Goddamn, that hurts. He closes his eyes and exhales between his teeth in a hiss. Despite the obvious pain, he doesn't actually move at all, barely even shifts in the chair.]

He's the old guy, right? [The words come out kind of strained. Conversation is a distraction at this point.]

[Crane noted the fact that Perry seemed to be in pain, but didn't do anything about it. It was better to get it over with. Even if this was going to take a while.]

That's him. Recognizable by the fact that sometimes he listens to inmates. [Which was really the only ground Crane was recommending him on.]

[Perry didn't try to do or say anything about the pain either, just kept still so Crane could work. He was a Dawsey, and hell, he'd dealt with a lot worse than this. Compared to cutting off your own dick, this was a walk in the park. He refused to be a pussy about it, just gritted his teeth.]

I haven't talked with him. What'd he listen to you about?

His own lack of medical qualifications and my numerous issues with the other doctors.

[Crane finished packing in the material and started taping it up, awkwardly pausing every few seconds to rip the tape. He really wanted a pair of scissors right about now.]

I don't actually mind the medical staff most of the time, though. They're just easy to bait.

[Perry gives a grim snort of something that's not quite laughter. There's absolutely no humour in it. He's not going to actually tell Crane the whole story, so instead, he just replies shortly:] Infection.

With surgery? [Crane sounds somewhat skeptical, but he doesn't ask any further questions. He's just about done all he can on Perry's back, so he steps away.] I could stitch some of those cuts up, but it would be rather rough.

[Rough was a substantial understatement.]

Yeah. I needed it. [Perry shrugs, sitting up and rolling his shoulders in an attempt to dispell some of the lingering pain. It felt better with the bite covered up. He nods at Crane. Stitching couldn't hurt.] May as well do it.

[Crane didn't particularly like the look of the cuts on Perry's face. He also didn't think Dawsey was particularly going to like what the result of Crane's quick fix would look like.] They're going to do the job, but they're not going to be very aesthetically appealing.

[Crane was getting the needle and thread he had even as he explained the situation.]

[Crane decided to take that as permission to do whatever he needed to do, despite potentially gruesome results. Time to thread the needle.]

I suppose they'll only be around until the next time you die anyway.
