Well, I’m not really sure what to say.

[Beat, in which Crane looks pensive. But only for a second.]

No, actually, I know exactly what I want to say.

To the “Riddler”, you are without a doubt the worst warden on the entire barge. It’s wonderful that you’re willing to convince someone who’s clearly flood affected to try and jump off the deck. Next you thing you know, you’ll probably just be killing inmates on your own steam. That’s more effective, isn’t it?

Adric, it’s just chess. You clearly have some kind of obsessive personality to make it into some huge issue. Move on.

Libby, no one on the barge cares about your relationship and apparently sexual dysfunction. That is not something that anyone needs to hear.

To the other denizens of the barge, especially all the new ones, welcome to your life. Prepare for floods of varying varieties that tell you exactly what you didn’t want to know about your fellow inmates and wardens. If you’ve got a problem with it, I’d suggest taking it to the Admiral, but we don’t exactly see a lot of him.

I do know that it isn't the best response. But they were hardly doing the decent thing during the flood, so I think I'm justified in pointing it out.

Well, better then before. As always, I would be a lot better if these floods stopped happening.

It's just hard. Things like the amnesia flood, it's hard to see it coming and once it's there, there's not a lot you can do. Does the same flood ever happen twice?

[Max takes out her all familiar cherry chap stick and runs it across her lips before replying.]

Not in my experience, no. Usually it's something different every time... because the ship is always moving.

I suppose that's a relief. I will never recover from the horror that was that... child flood.

[She makes a clearly awkward face before replying:] Truthfully... me too. I'm awful with children.

I don't mind them, provided I don't have to see them or be in their general proximity.

Wasn't there a child here before? I could never really tell if there was actually one wandering around or my head was playing games with me.

I think she was an inmate, a vampire.

There seem to be a fair few of those around.

But most of the time they're not giving anybody shit.

I think it's an elitist outlook they seem to have on the more inferior species.

I have to say, there are more immediately problematic people around. Like the Joker.

[Crane looks kind of awkward, like he doesn't want to talk about that but he's doing it anyway.]

It's the territorial issue, I think. [She knows a little TOO much about it, maybe.] I haven't had the pleasure... or displeasure, yet.

He comes from the same place that I do. In the spirit of fair warning, he's probably the most calculated and violent inmate in this place.

Yeah, that happens a lot. People from the same place showing up. [She tries to downplay it being that he seems to have issue with it.] You didn't ... have to do that, but thanks for the heads up.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. [Crane actually leans in a bit closer.] Either we'll all be dead within a week, or he'll be keeping us around to pick us off slowly for his own sick amusement.

I know that you value the warden's here as incompetent but there's really no need. Even if he did manage to pick SOME of us off slowly, and excuse me for the morbid undertones of that maybe potential agreement, it wouldn't last long. Trust me.

[Her tone and her gaze never waver.] Learn to have some trust... if not in me then in somebody else. If you're really feeling that low about his being here you're welcome to bunker with me until you get your game back.
