Well, I’m not really sure what to say.

[Beat, in which Crane looks pensive. But only for a second.]

No, actually, I know exactly what I want to say.

To the “Riddler”, you are without a doubt the worst warden on the entire barge. It’s wonderful that you’re willing to convince someone who’s clearly flood affected to try and jump off the deck. Next you thing you know, you’ll probably just be killing inmates on your own steam. That’s more effective, isn’t it?

Adric, it’s just chess. You clearly have some kind of obsessive personality to make it into some huge issue. Move on.

Libby, no one on the barge cares about your relationship and apparently sexual dysfunction. That is not something that anyone needs to hear.


To the other denizens of the barge, especially all the new ones, welcome to your life. Prepare for floods of varying varieties that tell you exactly what you didn’t want to know about your fellow inmates and wardens. If you’ve got a problem with it, I’d suggest taking it to the Admiral, but we don’t exactly see a lot of him.

I know that you value the warden's here as incompetent but there's really no need. Even if he did manage to pick SOME of us off slowly, and excuse me for the morbid undertones of that maybe potential agreement, it wouldn't last long. Trust me.

[Her tone and her gaze never waver.] Learn to have some trust... if not in me then in somebody else. If you're really feeling that low about his being here you're welcome to bunker with me until you get your game back.

[Crane pauses, thinking for a second.] The Joker attempts to be chaotic in everything he does, or likes to give off that impression to the general public. I don't know how he'd be stopped in an emergency situation. Only the Batman has managed to do it before.

I did my own crusading back home, the entire thing doesn't go completely over my head.

I'm not going to lie to you and say that it's all going to be apple pie, because I don't think you'd appreciate that, but I'd also like for you to acknowledge that there are certain few others on this tin can that might be able to thwart an attack like that and you're free to pass the word along to me if you suspect something. A real something.

I'm not trying to question your competency, but really, the Joker is going to wake up one morning and cut someones face open. The only real way to avoid it is to put him in zero preemptively.

Rule two, everything you just said about the Joker...? Yeah, I know, back to serious. Keep that between you and me. I'm not saying you don't have justifiable first hand knowledge of how he ticks, but spreading that across the network is going to get you more publicity than him and... I think he'd probably like it.

Not that I have to tell you. Just laying down some ground rules as we go.
