doctor_j_crane: Crane looking neutral. (I See)

[13] – Video Post

I’m out of zero, since the warden administration decided to get their act together. [Eye roll, Crane’s obviously not impressed with the time he spent down there.]

Unsurprisingly, nothing has changed. Good job though, with getting rid of the fear gas mess so far. The dining hall is looking quite pleasant. You could almost eat your lunch there without thinking about someone getting murdered where your chair is. [Crane just smiles at the camera for a long moment, before flicking it off.]

[Private – Irene Adler]

I don’t suppose you know anything about this? [Crane holds up a wad of paper which appears to be a file on Irene, with a kiss in lipstick on the top. He’s put it in a plastic sleeve to avoid touching the icky lady germs.]

[Private – Ms Rose]

I’m out of zero, finally, but you’re not in the infirmary. Where are you?

Private/[Spam] - I should have reread the thread. :C

I'll head up momentarily.

[Crane took the quick walk up to the first floor. He remembered where Rose's room was from his previous visit to get the herbs. He heisitated slightly before knocking on the door.]

[Rose stood up from her desk and walked over, unlocking her door and cautiously opening it. When she saw Crane's face, she pulled it open fully to allow him inside.]

Come in, then.

[Crane noted the locked door and Rose's quick check around it, but didn't comment on it. He stepped inside.] You look much better then when I last saw you.

I've had quite a while to recover. [She shut the door when he entered and locked it. For a moment, she was silent, almost awkward about this situation, but she was quickly over it, deciding that her emotions were not beneficial in this case. So...to more business-y things!]

I had a talk with your new warden. [Her loyalty was to Crane, after all. Not his warden.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What? [Crane was honestly put off footing by that. He had expected many things from a new warden, but not for them to be particularly efficient or watchful. Perhaps that had changed now.] What did she want to talk about? Or did you want to talk to her?

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[She poured him a cup of cider she had been saving and frowned.] Why would I want to talk to her? [Sitting down, she took her own drink and leaned back.]

No, she was wanting to know all about me since she knows that we are...[THe schoolteacher trailed off, thinking of the right word.] Friends. [Well, that would have to do.]

[Crane sat down and took the drink, and had a sip. It put into stark contrast the conditions of zero. He sighed.]

I don't like her. She interrogated me as soon as I left zero. It's not pleasent news that she's inflicting the same treatment on you.

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rose frowned, gauging his reaction to the cider. They were from the Summerisle apples, naturally, which gave it a very sweet taste.]

I wouldn't call it interrogating, but it certainly was intrusive. I certainly didn't reveal anything but...[She shrugged.] She's going to be a nuisance.

[Crane didn't look overly surprised, taking another sip of the drink. Alcohol wasn't ordinarily something he enjoyed, but he found this more palatable then most.]

She will be. Have you been assigned a new warden yet, or have they still left you with a temporary warden?

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a temporary warden still. [She didn't look too thrilled about that situation.]

But I suppose that it's better than a prying warden in everything I do.

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. While she's prying, she is present. Rather then a complete abscence of a warden, and a weak temporary replacement. [Crane thinks on this.]

Is there any way to make them give you a permanent warden?

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Her next look towards him was somewhat suspicious.] While I am concerned with leaving this place, Doctor Crane, I am not in a hurry to be given yet another weak minded male who wishes only to condemn me for something he does not understand.

I'm not trying to say that the warden would be any good at all. The fact that they might provide additional protection was what I was meaning. [Certainly, the Crane didn't believe that the wardens were good at anything apart from that.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
If my last warden is any indication of what kind of "protection" I can be assured, then my hopes are not high. I would almost rather do without. [She recognized, of course, that a warden was the key to getting what she needed- her freedom- but that didn't mean that she wanted another one.]

I am fine here now. [The small waver her in voice did not match her otherwise confident tone.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
They do seem to bring little benefit. You may be right.

[Crane catches the waver, and forces himself to bring it up. Sort of. Despite the awkwardness.] Are you quite sure that you're fine?

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[She took a drink of her cider and straightened up a bit, trying to seem less...intimidated.]

I suppose there is still a part of me that is...not comfortable with being here by myself.

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's perfectly understandable. [Crane felt decidely awkward. He'd never been good at comforting people.] It will probably fade, in time.

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[She looked away, starting to weave her web.]

I'm sure the feeling will fade, but the threat will always be there, will it not? As long as he is on this ship.

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
There isn't a great deal we can do about him. Death doesn't seem to have the same significance here. [Uncomfortable Crane is uncomfortable.]

There must be some kind of way to lessen the threat... [Crane trails of, thinking.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? [She sat up a bit straighter, looking quite interested in whatever plan he might come up with. After all, she didn't want to suggest anything, so she was trying to make him.]

What would you have in mind?

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Crane feels bad that she looks so eager. He's still doing a rapid brainstorm.]

I suppose that he's less likely to attack more than one person. [Crane knew he was. There was nothing as bad as being outnumbered.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[She refrained from smirking at that, as he was going right down the path of thinking that she had wanted him to. Sitting back, enjoying another slow drink of her cider, she shrugged.]

And if he does, there are better odds that he won't succeed.

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true. There's better odds that he won't even try, which is the primary goal after all. [Crane took a long sip of his cider. The Joker was one of those topics that encouraged drinking.]

[Spam]

[identity profile] preachyrose.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[The schoolteacher gave a soft sort of laugh.]

Exactly. But there aren't many who would be willing to do that. To stick by a stranger, just on a hunch.

[Spam]

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I suppose there isn't. [Crane took another long sip of the cider.] It's the wardens job, in a way, but they're hardly going to do it well. Although my previous warden did, before she left.
