[Have a long pause before he starts talking. The pause of someone who's just found some quite important stuff missing from their room. And a rather familiar poker chip.]

I got your calling card, Eames. Should I be anticipating a trip to zero? [He's more worried about the antenna than the fear toxin.]

In that case, I'm assuming that you'd rather tell me tell you nothing rather than lying.

Very funny, Eames. [Pause.]

I'm sorry, but I have nothing to tell you. It's all rather interrelated. But you can be proud to know that I, personally, no longer have any fear toxin.

I'd trust you with it more than I trust whoever else has it.

What is it that you want, Jonathan?

You've read my file, so you must have a low opinion of most of the people on the barge.

I'd very much like you to stop looking into the locations of the other vials of fear toxin, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I have a high opinion of you.

Why?

There's no reason for that, unless you're one of the few people who understand that my work is a good idea.

Given that you took the effort to search my room and your persistence in other areas, I don't think it's likely that you're just going to ignore fear toxin floating around the barge.

You have many good qualities, even if you refuse to see them.

Why do you want me to stop?

I'm sure that the good is equally matched by the bad.

Because I think that some people on the barge need the fear toxin. For protection. [This is true, even for Eddie.]

That's your decision.

Tell me who they are and how many vials. If it's your friends and they've one vial each, I'd consider protection. Anything beyond that is aggressive action.

You might be right, but as inmates, they have to be aggressive. We've got nothing to protect ourselves against other inmates, not to mention the wardens.

Another excuse. Wardens protect their inmates; inmates shouldn't need to be aggressive. I'd allow you to argue for the defensive case, but the amount you're talking about is purely offensive. That's exactly the kind of attitude which justifies other inmates' endeavoring the same protections.

Some wardens don't protect their inmates. They attack them and try to force them into behaving how they want them to behave. Then they're surprised when the inmate claims their ground by striking back, whether against them personally or the other wardens.

Forgive me for not seeing Capa as a threat to his inmate. He actually seems quite keen in protecting her at every turn. You said yourself your other friend was an inmate and I fully intend to protect you. So who is it that you're worried about, precisely?

Capa tries to be protective, but his incompetence is more likely to harm her than anything else. But that's not the issue.

[Honesty time.] It's a trust issue. I cannot simply turn my friends over to a warden.

Bloody hell. It's not as if I'm forming a witch hunt. I'm not even asking for their crimes. I'm asking you to trust me to know how much of a danger they have the potential to be, so that I can be prepared to handle them if the situation arises. If they don't do anything, then I don't act either. The fact is, I'm going to be investigating whether you tell me or not; the only difference is that, without your help, I have to involve a few of the others.

How will you trust me? What more do you want, because we are running out of time until I'm not able to reasonably protect you anymore. If anything-- anything happens with any of them and I'm not able to take care of it?.. I wouldn't be able to protect you from them.
