doctor_j_crane: Crane looking neutral. (Open door)

[There's just the video posting footage, with no lead in or explanation at all. The angle is fairly steady, and you can make out the fact that it's the inmate showers. The very first shot is of Perry Dawsey hitting Rex in the face, before wrenching off Rex's ventilator because it's getting in the way. There's a fair bit of noise. Perry is yelling as he hits Rex.]

"You like that? You fucking like that? How does it feel?"

[You can clearly see Rex struggling, trying to get the ventilator back, before Perry kicks it away. Perry punches Rex a few more times. It's fairly obvious that Rex stops struggling. Then, after all that drama lama, Crane points the video away. You get a few shots of the floor as Crane quickly walks to the door.]

[The angle jerks up as Crane runs into someone. Why, it's Eddie Brock. Who looks more than a little bit surprised.]

"What the hell?" [You so shrill, Eddie.]

[Crane's pretty quick off the mark in replying.]

Everything went according to your plan. You should be happy that it went so well. [Crane says, before the camera angle tilts and he walks past Eddie. The camera feed cuts out.]

[And cuts back in, with a reasonably obvious time skip. Crane's standing in a different corridor, angling the camera at himself.] Well, I think everyone can feel better about the whole nanomite situation. Let it not be said that just because the wardens aren't prepared to fix a situation, there aren't other members of the barge willing to step up to the plate.

[And end video post.]

And either way, it needn't have been done. The murder was wrong. You broadcasting it was just as wrong.

:D

You can say it was wrong all you like. Ultimately, it achieved the goal it was designed to reach.

You seem to know everything, Howie. You work it out.

I can make several educated guesses, but there's nothing like the horse's mouth.

So what was your intent?

From: [identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com
I suppose that you'll just have to wonder. I have no interest in telling you exactly what it was.

So, by my guess, your intent was to make a show of 'justice' as you saw it?

Hot, cold, lukewarm?

Lukewarm. It's interesting that you assume that everyone is solely based around notions of justice like you apparently are.

It was a guess, not an assumption.

And your last comment seemed to be lamenting the lack of justice you felt at the situation from the wardens.

It's a factor, but not my primary motivation. So you're lukewarm. Although, I have to wonder, do you really care why I did it?

I generally care as to the motivations behind people's actions, yes. Especially when they're doing them in my name.

If there was one person on the barge who I wasn't doing it for, it was you. So you can consider your conscience clean.

Except your blanket act, Crane, covered all of us. Whether you wanted to or not.

Tell me, Sergeant. Did you watch all of the video?

Date: 2011-04-04 01:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com
You choose to watch the whole thing. If you had really disliked it so much, you wouldn't have watched it.

I wanted all the information. I've picked apart the scenes of horrific deaths. It doesn't mean I approve of what happened.

It was fairly obvious what was going on. You only watched it in such detail for your own amusement.

You're making a lot of assumptions there. I'd hate to make assumptions about the reasons you recorded it.

Why don't you? Everyone else already is. Some of them have been particularly vicious. You should hear Wayne's opinions on the matter.

Because assumptions are how bad decisions are made, in my mind.

A bad decision can still be made with a full understanding of a situation.

From: [identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com
True, but there's less chance of it actually happening. The more informed a decision, the more reliable it is. It can be wrong or not, but if the justification comes down to 'well, I assumed', it's not a very good one.

[Ugh, Howie's right. Time to change the subject!] Is there any particular purpose to your moralizing or do you just like lecturing me?
