doctor_j_crane: Crane looking neutral. (More shrink talk)

I have a specimen that I think has lived in a bucket for a little too long. I would like a proper enclosure for it. Admiral, it can be plastic if you don't think I can be trusted with glass. [Crane sounds thoroughly unimpressed by this. He's referring to a non poisonous huntsman spider, that appeared in a Rom Com cupboard with Eddie and himself.]

[Crane pauses before continuing.] I'm rather surprised that the murder in the garden was handled so well. Was it because the culprit was reasonably obvious or due to actual police work?

[Private - Rose]

The garden is less quiet than I would have expected. I trust that you weren't affected by the recent events?

[Private - Hayley]

I want to show you some instructions. I need to know if you're capable of performing them.

[Crane finds that concerning, but wants to know about crazy future chemical science.] I'd be interested in reading about that, if you had the materials. Out of intellectual curiosity.

I doubt that I would be permitted to work in the infirmary, regardless of whether I wanted to or not. The staff don't trust me.

[He knows that Crane is dangerous, and supplying him with resources could be moreso. Especially since he honestly doesn't see anything wrong with what he does. He doesn't want to be taken advantage of, but if Crane is on board, it means he still has the capacity to one day help people. And if he consulted Martha and Piper beforehand, perhaps it would do more harm than good.]

I will, at least, see if I would be permitted to supply you with Starfleet medical records pertaining to prenatal testing. That is where many conditions can be diagnosed and treated.

That would be very helpful. [Crane was somewhat disappointed, of course, but at the same time surprised that Data was willing to give him anything at all.]

I imagine that I might be able to make some interesting conclusions by the standards of my time period.

I do not doubt it. I have found myself consistently impressed by the intellect aboard this vessel and the range of time periods it has been drawn from. Perhaps not with the personalities accompanying that intellect, but everyone has been highly adaptable.

[Private] - It's awesome. :D

I've found the opposite regarding the intellect of the people here. It seems to be a fair lot of the ordinary, run of the mill, unimpressive minds that populate most societies. But as you say, with less desirable personalities.

Have you had negative experiences with "unimpressive minds"? My ancestors held a somewhat similar view to yours. My father even refused to work within Federation jurisdiction.

There are many people who disregard by methods. I think that they reject what they don't fully understand. I can understand your fathers jurisdictional issues. I've run into similar things before.
