I'm back, so certain people can stop celebrating. [Ah, paranoia. Crane sounds pretty bad. The wonders of death toll. You may notice that he's trying a bit too hard to be casual.] I hadn't died since September and I hadn't died outside of a port. I suppose I'll have to start my count again of how many days it's been. How disappointing.

I might be here for another day or so. I assume that you can feed my spiders?

Did Iago offer you any explanation in particular for what he did?

I refuse to let Rex have anything to do with my treatment. We've got far too much negative history. I'm not doubting his skills, but surely some of you can see that it isn't a positive situation to put either of us in?

[OOC: Crane's chilling in the infirmary, being generally mopey. Feel free to throw up spam threads.]

[Crane watched Hayley sit down on the end of the bed. He didn't have an issue with it in particular. If there was anyone who was going to get that close, it may as well be Hayley. He sighed at the mention of Iago.]

I have no idea. It might have been due to the Rex thing. He may have just been having a bad week. Who knows?

"'The Rex thing?'" [She asked with a tightness at her lips and an evenness in her tone that suggested she was trying to avoid a fight between them here, while simultaneously jumping directly back into the subject they had just quarreled over.] "You really didn't provoke him at all or anything?"

[Hayley liked to think that Crane was generally honest with her about things like this, because he had no reason not to be. She never spoke to his warden and didn't like telling Capa things about Crane. If Crane told her that he really didn't provoke Iago, she would believe him. Mostly.]

Not as far as I know. [Crane said slowly. There was always the potential of having offended Iago without taking too much notice of it.] No more than anything else. I doubt that Iago would have tried to kill me for mocking him.

[Crane paused. It was the barge, and entirely possible. He sighed.] In any case, it would have been about something I'd have done verbally if it wasn't about Rex.

[Hayley thought about it for a minute, then just shrugged. Crane was right. There was no way of knowing with Iago. She didn't really like the guy, but was trying to be supportive of Rex.. which conflicted with Crane and Perry and Loki and it was starting to get frustrating, trying to control all of her friendships.]

"I'm sorry you died." [She replied finally.] "Do you want me to bring you anything?"

I'm sorry I died too. But it's an opportunity. [Crane said. He'd thought about it. It was an opportunity to prove himself, by not retaliating.]

If you could bring me some of my books, it would be appreciated.

"How?" [She asked sincerely. There were lots of opportunities that could come from murder and death, but Hayley wanted to be certain that she was following Crane's line of thought.]

[To the latter, she nodded.] "Yeah, of course. Any preferences?"

To prove something to the wardens. [Crane shrugged, despite how painful it was to do so.] I imagine that they take note of these sorts of things. Lack of reaction to murders and whatnot.

[Crane considered the question, before saying a few titles.]

"Oh. Yeah. I get it." [Pause.] "I think that's cool. I mean, I know you're just doing it for the wardens? But I think it might be progress, Jonathan. You should be proud."

[Hayley shrugged, to avoid getting too serious, and then nodded about the books.] "I'll go grab them after I leave."

I'll be proud if it gets somewhere. [Crane sounds positive about it, though. He's got fairly high expectations.]

Thank you, Hayley. [Crane said, the paused.] I appreciate it.

[Hayley smiled at that. Maybe it wasn't quite the progress she thought it was, but it did seem like something. Whatever. Some part of the back of her mind knew she would be upset if Crane graduated before she did.]

[To the latter, she shrugged.] "Yeah, of course."

[After a beat, she stretched out her legs and slid off of the bed.] "I'll go do that now. Any last minute requests before I go?"

I think I'll be fine. I'm getting well practiced at all of this. [All of this was being murdered and stuck in the infirmary, but Crane kept his tone light.]
