[It's pretty clear by the large amount of people in the background that Crane's currently sitting in the infirmary.]

Apparently, zombies exist and are fairly hungry. [Crane sounds absolutely terrible. As in worst sore throat ever. Important things got eaten by the zombies, bb.] Also, we seem to actually be on a magical barge.

[Pause]

Cue the candid camera moment. Your experiment is successful. I actually have gone so far over the other edge of things that I think this place might actually exist.

[Five seconds of slow clapping. Clap, clap, clap.]

My main question is why would the Admiral do this to us? What does he gain? Why is this happening? Why are we here? What are you wardens getting from this? Why not just leave us to rot after being dead?

[After putting that large amount of effort into that little rant, Crane bursts into a fit of some pretty serious coughing. After he finishes, he turns back to the camera, even raspier then before.]

Why do all of you people put up with this?

[Private - Max]

Thanks. For keeping me company in the infirmary. [Not sarcastic, genuine.]

Where, exactly, are you from?

Go City. East coast. But since I'm guessing that'll mean nothing to you, let me just walk you through a few of the people and events that have characterized my life so far:

Alien invasion? Check. Clone armies? At least two. Genetically engineered supermonsters? Been there done that. Giant robots? At this point I don't even notice them, they're like background noise. Mind control? Stopped coming as a surprise years ago. Interdimensional travel? Oh hey it must be Tuesday.

I realize that 'magical space barge' might be a stretch for the credulity of some people, but me? Nnnnno. And I know I'm not the only one who came from a world where magical space whatever would barely register as unusual.

You're not serious, are you? You must be joking, because if that place exists, it sounds like everything scientifically impossible has been put into a blender, and then people have been made to live in it.

Serious as a heart attack, Doc. Sounds like your world and mine have pretty distinct definitions of what is and what isn't scientifically possible.

Well, I suppose in your world you'd probably have the ability to get more things done. I can just imagine the scientific leaps one would be able to make into the nature of the universe.

You'd think so, but what tends to happen is that somebody invents something and somebody else tries to work out a way to use it to take over the world. Then I steal it, they switch it on, an adolescent redhead saves the day and a week or two later the whole futile cycle starts over.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. Every new development can likely be weaponised in some way. I suppose where I come from doesn't compare - most people haven't yet managed to take over a city, let alone the world.
